Widgetory Privacy Policy
1. Scope
Widgetory (the “App”) is an Android home-screen widget app. The App does not offer an account or sign-in and does not directly request your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or precise location. The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Google AdMob, and the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to understand app usage and reliability and to provide advertising. The information processed by these services is described below.
The actual content you enter or choose for a widget—including D-day labels, photos, GIFs, calendar events, and selected apps—is not transmitted for analytics, crash reporting, or advertising.
2. Information transmitted off the device
2.1 Usage analytics — Google Analytics for Firebase
The App sends the following information to Google Analytics for Firebase:
- a
widget_addedevent and the widget-type identifierwidget_idwhen a widget is added to the home screen; - app launches, sessions, and other standard events generated automatically by the SDK;
- app and device information such as app version, device model, OS version, and language;
- an app-instance identifier generated for each installation; and
- an approximate region that may be derived from the IP address used for the network connection.
We use this information to understand which widgets are used and to improve the App and gallery. Because it includes an app-instance identifier, we do not describe it as completely anonymous. We do not associate it with a name or account. Advertising ID collection and advertising personalization signals are disabled for Analytics. Those settings are separate from AdMob's advertising processing described below.
Analytics collection is always enabled in the App and there is no in-app switch to disable it.
2.2 Crash and error diagnostics — Firebase Crashlytics
When the App crashes, experiences an ANR, or fails to render a widget, Firebase Crashlytics may process:
- stack traces and fatal or non-fatal error information;
- relevant app state and device metadata at the time of the error;
- app version, device model, and OS version;
- a Crashlytics installation UUID, Firebase installation identifier, and session information;
- Analytics breadcrumbs showing actions immediately before a crash; and
- the widget design identifier and Android's local widget ID that the App attaches for debugging.
We use this information to diagnose failures and improve reliability. We do not attach the text entered in widgets, the content or paths of selected photos or GIFs, or calendar event content as custom crash-report values. Crashlytics collection is always enabled in production builds and there is no in-app switch to disable it.
2.3 Advertising — Google AdMob
The App may show Google AdMob ads in the following places:
- native ads in the in-app widget gallery;
- an interstitial ad before a standard widget is added to the home screen; and
- an optional rewarded ad when the user chooses “Watch ad” while adding certain RemoteCompose widgets.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share with Google:
- the IP address and an approximate location derived from it;
- app and ad interactions such as app launches, taps, impressions, clicks, and video views;
- app and advertising-SDK performance and diagnostic information; and
- the Android advertising ID, app set ID, and other applicable device or account identifiers.
Google uses this information for advertising, advertising analytics, frequency capping, fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Life Software Lab can view aggregated advertising and performance reports in AdMob but does not directly store these identifiers or associate them with a user's name or account. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android settings.
2.4 Advertising consent and privacy choices — Google UMP
At app launch, the App uses Google UMP to request the latest consent status. Where applicable law or Google policy requires consent, a Google-provided privacy message may be shown. The advertising SDK requests ads only when UMP reports that ads may be requested. Where required, you can review or change your choices through “Ad privacy options” in the App's settings. Whether personalized, non-personalized, or limited ads are served depends on your choices, region, and Google's ad configuration.
3. Information processed only on the device
3.1 Calendar
The App requests read-only calendar access only when you select a Daily Agenda or Upcoming Agenda widget. If granted, event times and titles are read and rendered on the device for display in the widget. The App does not retain calendar events in a separate event database or transmit them off the device for analytics, crash reporting, or advertising. Denying access does not affect features other than calendar-based widgets.
3.2 Photos and GIFs
Only photos and GIFs that you select through Android's system picker are copied to the App's private storage for display in a widget. The App does not request broad storage access or camera permission and does not upload the content of selected media to a server.
3.3 Quick Launch and other device information
The Quick Launch widget reads the list of launcher-visible apps on the device so that you can choose one. The App does not use the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission and does not store or transmit the full list. Only the identifier of the app you choose is stored as that widget's setting.
Battery level, next-alarm time, and the current date and time are used only to render widgets. D-day labels and other widget settings are stored in private app storage and are not sent to analytics or advertising servers.
4. Third-party processors and sharing
Google LLC is the primary processor of information transmitted off the device:
- Google Analytics for Firebase: usage measurement and analytics;
- Firebase Crashlytics: crash, ANR, and non-fatal error diagnostics;
- Google AdMob: advertising, advertising analytics, and fraud prevention; and
- Google UMP: advertising consent and privacy-choice management.
These services process data under the Google Privacy Policy, Firebase Privacy and Security documentation, and Google advertising technologies policy.
5. Retention and deletion
Data stored on the device
Deleting a widget deletes that widget's settings and media copies created for it. Uninstalling the App deletes app-private data remaining on the device. Some widget settings included in Android backup or device transfer may be restored under Android's operating-system policies. Photo and Polaroid image copies are excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. GIF copies are excluded from cloud backup but may be included in direct device-to-device transfer.
Data transmitted to Google services
- Google Analytics user-level and event-level data may be retained for up to 14 months under GA4 retention controls. Standard aggregated reports may persist longer outside that retention setting.
- Firebase Crashlytics generally retains crash stacks, associated identifiers, and diagnostic data for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems.
- Data processed by AdMob and UMP is retained and deleted under Google's policies. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android settings.
The App has no user account, and Life Software Lab cannot use a name or email address to locate a specific installation's Analytics, Crashlytics, or AdMob data. Uninstalling the App stops future transmission from that installation and deletes local data, but the App does not provide a way to immediately delete already-transmitted third-party service data by a user's account. You may send privacy questions to the contact below.
6. Security
Data transmitted by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS, and the App's other Google-service communications use HTTPS. Local widget settings and selected media are stored in Android app-private storage. However, no method of transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security.
7. Privacy-policy website
This privacy-policy webpage uses Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics. When you visit the page, Google and Cloudflare may process your IP address, browser and device information, the page visited, and basic usage information for site operation, security, and audience measurement. See the Google Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy for details.
8. Children's privacy
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. The App does not require a user account, name, email address, phone number, or contacts. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, contact us using the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App's data practices or applicable law changes. We will update the effective date above. A material expansion of collection or sharing will be reflected in the policy before the related feature is released.
